What is GLP-1
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist, a type of medication that mimics the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) hormone. It is the same active ingredient as in Ozempic. It helps regulate blood sugar, slow digestion, reduce appetite, and promote weight loss. Tirzepatide acts on both GLP-1 and GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) receptors. It contains the same active ingredient as Mounjaro. Your provider will determine which medication is right for you.
How GLP-1 Works:
- Appetite Control: Reduces hunger, naturally curbing calorie intake.
- Metabolic Impact: Improves insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism.
Benefits:
- Substantial Weight Loss: Achieve up to 15% total body weight loss.
- Improved Glucose Control: Regulates blood sugar levels.
- Cardiometabolic Boost: Enhances cardiovascular health.
- Curbs Cravings: Healthier eating habits.
GLP-1 is a long-term solution, not a quick fix for events or minor weight loss goals. GLP-1 is for those who struggle to lose weight from elevated glucose levels, perimenopause, and a lifetime struggle with weight management.
